This half-day forum, for graduate student services professionals, is intended to help cultivate connections across campus, to celebrate the hard work and professional dedication of these staff members, and to help them develop new contacts and skills to take back to their Schools, Departments and Centers.

The event featured keynote speaker Professor Eamonn Callan, Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the School of Education and the 2012-13 Chair of the Faculty Senate Committee on Graduate Studies. The Forum program and presentation materials are provided below.

This session will be geared toward newer GFS Users and/or will be a refresher of some GFS basics. The first half hour will focus on making changes in GFS (e.g., unapplied aid changes, changing salary and/or stipends). Presenters in the second half hour will give users a quick crash course in pulling and manipulating GFS reports.

  GFS Policy Interpretation and Implementation

This session will explore some of the more difficult situations where decisions about how to support students must be made. The focus will be in two general areas:
1) summer employment/enrollment (with guidance developed after the related discussion at last year's forum) and
2) distinguishing be tween employment and financial aid.
